Hello world!

April 30, 2008

So, I’m kind of new at blogging. I mean, I was on the xanga train for a while, but then that became too popular and transformed into a new way to stalk people online.

I’m starting this new site to open a new chapter in my life. My purpose in this site is to discuss my ideas concerning directing and actor training. In late July, I will be beginning a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing at Baylor University.

Even though my studies in Waco will concentrate on directing theatre productions, leading teams and creating a cohesive vision for a performance, I am more interested in actor coaching. My main focus on research will be in “creative counseling”, poring over the issues of creating a character, encompassing emotion in both a sincere and insincere manner, and reducing an artists tendencies towards anxiety and depression.

I am also interested in where the art of theatre is going toward in the 21st century. In our ipod, blog, facebook,  grey’s anatomy environment, where does theatre fit in? The forms we have known in the past of theatre must evolve with the new concepts in technology, a global community, and the American value system.

This blog will contain my struggles, breakthroughs, thoughts and ideas concerning these topics.
